In this lesson, you can learn all movements of Part 1 of Chen’s Tai Chi Compact 12 Forms, including Movement 1-5.
Generally, there are three videos for each movement. There are different purposes for each clip of the videos. First, you can learn and understand the details of the movements from the Explanation video. Secondly, it is easier to remember the movements step-by-step from the videos with the order. The text below can help you to understand more and remember the sequence of the steps of the movements. Furthermore, after you can remember the movements, you can try to exercise the movements smoothly with strong feeling of the Qi by following the videos of the Demo. Requirements below are very helpful to understand the more details of the movements. You may also find the basic applications for the most of the movements. It can help you to learn and exercise the movements more accurately.

Steps: For Ready Pose, relax the whole body, push the Baihui up slightly, touch the tip of the tongue to the ceiling of the month, look to the front.
1. Loosen the hip joints and bend the knees, step the left foot to the left with the shoulder width; 2. Raise the palms to the shoulder height slowly; 3. Press the palms down to the abdomen height.
Requirements: Shift the weight to the right leg before step to the left; Lower the body while raise the palms and arms; Use the waist to pull the palms downward.
Applications: Raise the palms to block the opponent’s attacking arms, then press or strike the opponent’s chest.

Steps:1. Turn left and push two palms up to the left; 2. Rotate two palms, left opening rotation and right closing rotation. Turn right, move the body to the left, raise and turn the right toes; 3.Lift the left leg, two palms push upward and outward; 4. Step to the left front corner, the inner left heel touches ground, still sit on the right leg; 5. Shift the weight to the left leg, raise the left toes and turn outwards, lower the right palm down to the right knee, push the left arm forwards and turn the left palm downwards; 6. Push the left palm forwards, then upward and backward, Swing the right arm forward in a downward curve, place the left palm inside of the right arm, at same time step the right foot forward with the toes touching the ground; 7. Lower the left palm downward to the front of the abdomen and the palm side faces up, Change the right palm to the fist and rest on the left palm; 8. Raise the right fist to the shoulder height and lift the right knee; 9. Stomp the right foot to the ground, drop the right fist to the left palm at same time.
Requirements: Relax the hip joints and sink the waist when push two palms upward (Step 1); Loosen the right hip joints when lift the left leg (Step 2, 3); When step forward, use expanding feeling between the left foot and two palms (Step 4); Loosen the left hip joints and use the waist to bring the right foot and the palm forward (Step 6); Lower the right fist to the left palm by sinking the waist, keep the hands away from the abdomen (Step 7); Loosen the left hip joint and sink the waist when lift the right fist and the leg (Step 8); Loosen the hip joints and sink the waist when stomp the right foot and drop the right fist (Step 9).
Applications: Grasp the arm of the opponent and pull backward, kick the knee or the abdomen (Step 2, 3, 4); The left hand blocks the attacking arm, the right palm hits the abdomen or the chest of the opponent, the right foot kicks the knee or the abdomen of the opponent (Step 5, 6); The right fist hits the chin and the right knee attacks the abdomen or the chest of the opponent (Step 8).

Steps: 1. Turn left and open two arms, the left palm presses down, the right fist changes to the palm and pushes to the right upward; 2. Shift the weight to the left, lift the right leg and step to the right side. Lower the right arm and raise the left arm, then two arms close to each other, the heel of the left palm touches the inside of the right arm. The weight is on the left side; 3. Shift the weight to the right and turn left, raise the right palm upward; 4. Open the right arm with the right wrist at the shoulder level, the right elbow over the right knee. Lower the left palm to the left by passing the abdomen and hold the left side of the waist.
Requirements: Use the waist to open two arms (Step 1); Step to the side and close arms at same time (Step 2); Use the waist to wave the right arm to the right side, final pose with expending feeling and loosen the hip joints, keep the body upright (Step 4) .
Applications: Block the attack with the right arm, kick the knee of the opponent, hit the face with the left palm (Step 1, 2); After block the attacking arm, hit the opponent with the back of shoulder (Step 3); Attack the face or the neck of the opponent with the right palm (Step 4).

Steps: 1. Turn right slightly, wave the left palm in upward curve toward to the right palm; 2. Shift the weight and turn the waist to the left, brush two palms to the left in a downward curve; 3. Shift to the right, raise two palms upward to the front of the left shoulder; 4. Turn the waist to the left, turn the left toes inward; 5. Move the body to the right, bring the left foot to the right foot with the left toes touching ground, sink the waist and press two palms downward.
Requirements: Sink the waist and use the waist to lead leftward brushing of two palms (Step 2); Raise two palms with sinking the waist (Step 3); While pressing two palms downward, sink the waist, drop the shoulders, lower the elbows (Step 5).
Applications: Grip the arm of the opponent, pull the opponent to fall to the ground (Step 1, 2); Use the elbows to block the attack, close to the opponent and press the chest or the abdomen (Step 5).

Steps:1. Turn right, pull the right palm backward and turn two palms facing up; 2. Form the right hook with all the tips of the fingers touching together, turn the waist to the left, raise the right hook to the shoulder height, the left palm moves downward to the front of abdomen; 3. Turn right and lift the left leg inward, loosen the right hip joint and bend the right knee, the left foot steps to the left with the inside of the heel touching and scraping on the ground; 4. Shift the weight to the left, turn the right toes inward; 5. Turn right slightly, raise the left palm upward to the front of the chest, the left palm faces outward; 6. Shift the weight and turn the waist to the left, wave the left palm to the left in an upward curve, the left elbow over the left knee, the eyes follow the left palm to the left and look to the front in the final pose.
Requirements: For forming and raising the right hook, loosen the hip joints, relax the shoulders, sink the waist and turn the body, the left elbow expends outward (Step 2); Lift the left leg by loosening the right hip joint, turning the waist to the right, extending the right hook outward while step to the left (Step 3); When raise and wave the left palm to the left, loosen the hip joints and turn the waist, keep the body upright (Step 5, 6).
Applications: With the right hook to hold the wrist of the opponent, kick the opponent’s knee with the left foot (Step 1, 2, 3); Use the left palm to attack the neck or the face of the opponent (Step 5, 6).
